Meet our Black Belts…

Omaha Blue Waves (OBW) has a number of great black belts donating their time and talents to help make our traditional martial arts school one of the best in the midwest. Each of these individuals has spent years learning their art and is a credit to OBW. Stop in to meet some of the area’s most talented black belts.

Master Owens is a martial arts instructor with Omaha Blue Waves. He is a 5th Degree Black Belt in TaeKwon-Do. Master Owens is certified through the United States Kido Federation and the United States ChungDoKwon TaeKwon-Do Association.

Q. What is your favorite part about teaching? 

A. What I enjoy most about teaching is watching the students progress not only as a martial artist but as a person as well. What I like about teaching at Omaha Blue Waves is that the school is like one big family.

 

 


Paige Helaney, LMT,  TaeKwon-Do Senior Instructor & Demo Team Coach

Paige Helaney is a licensed massage therapist, martial arts instructor, demo team coach, and part owner  at Omaha Blue Waves. Ms. Helaney holds a 4th Degree Black Belt in TaeKwon-Do and is a United States Kido Federation Certified Instructor. Ms. Helaney is a former Professional Karate Commission Ohio State Champion and Nationally Ranked Competitor.

Q. What is your favorite part about teaching? 

A. I have taught martial arts for most of my life. By far my favorite thing about teaching is seeing the smile of success on a child who has struggled  learning new skill when they finally succeed. I, also, just simply enjoy watching kids grow up to be extremely productive adults. My job is a blessing.


Isaiah Price, TaeKwon-Do Assistant Instructor

Isaiah Price is an assistant martial arts instructor with Omaha Blue Waves. He has traveled extensively and spent a year studying in Japan. He holds a 2nd Degree Black Belt in TaeKwon-Do and a Black Belt in Judo.

Q. What is your favorite part about teaching? 

A. What I like most about teaching is helping students grasp a difficult concept and being a mentor to new students.

 


Adam Bragg,  TaeKwon-Do Assistant Instructor

Adam Bragg is an assistant martial arts instructor with Omaha Blue Waves. He holds a 1st Degree Black Belt in TaeKwon-Do.

Q. What is your favorite part about teaching? 

A. What I like about teaching is watching students grow and progress in martial arts and how the student oath, tenents and practice shape their martial arts and everyday lives.

 


Jacob Price, TaeKwon-Do Assistant Instructor

Jacob Price is an assistant martial arts instructor with Omaha Blue Waves. He holds a 1st Degree Black Belt in TaeKwon-Do.

Q. What is your favorite part about teaching? 

A. My favorite thing about teaching is getting to meet new people. You can learn things from others and getting to help others is really fun. Just watching others can make you a better teacher!

Christopher Silligman is an assistant martial arts instructor with Omaha Blue Waves. He holds a 1st Degree Black Belt in TaeKwon-Do.

Q. What is your favorite part about teaching? 

A. What I like about teaching is not just the teaching portion but also the learning portion of it. I enjoy seeing all of the students grow in rank because of what us advanced ranks or black belts have taught them. I love it when I get to see the people from my group get pulled over to take a pre-test and come back with a sheet of paper that tells them they are ready.

Bradley Kimmey is an assistant martial arts instructor with Omaha Blue Waves. He holds a 1st Degree Black Belt in TaeKwon-Do.

Q. What is your favorite part about teaching? 

A. My favorite thing about teaching is getting to help others. Seeing how others approach different tasks, I am able to learn while teaching.

 


Eric Wu, TaeKwon-Do Assistant  Instructor

Eric Wu is an assistant martial arts instructor with Omaha Blue Waves. He holds a 1st Degree Black Belt in TaeKwon-Do.

Q. What is your favorite part about teaching? 

A. My favorite part of teaching is watching the kids develop into better martial artists. Teaching not only helps them improve , but it also helps me learn new things too. I enjoy helping and teaching because it makes me a better martial artist and a better person.



Alissa Kuehn, TaeKwon-Do Assistant Instructor

Alissa Kuehn  is an assistant martial arts instructor with Omaha Blue Waves. She holds a 1st Degree Black Belt in TaeKwon-Do.

Q. What is your favorite part about teaching? 

A. Teaching is a big part of my life. I am a full time speech-language pathologist in an elementary school setting. I enjoy teaching and assisting martial arts students in gaining more confidence and learning new skills. I truly enjoy breaking down difficult concepts and helping younger students learn martial arts. It is always great when I see students get excited about what they are learning. I get to see that every day at Omaha Blue Waves.



Amanda Norman (Cvilikas), TaeKwon-Do Assistant Instructor

Amanda Norman is an assistant martial arts instructor with Omaha Blue Waves. She holds a 1st Degree Black Belt in TaeKwon-Do and is an NASM Certified Fitness Instructor.

Q. What is your favorite part about teaching? 

A. My favorite part about teaching is seeing the students faces when they grasp a new concept and to watch students grow into each new rank! The journey each student has in martial arts is unique to them and I love watching each one on their own journey.

 


All of our instructors are certified through the United States Kido Federation
